DBZ Characters Who Had Potential but Were Abandoned

November 18, 2025 by Agustin Catania

Dragon Ball Z is packed with legendary heroes, iconic villains, and unforgettable transformations… but it’s also full of characters who could have been huge but were left behind along the narrative path. If you’ve ever wondered, “What if Toriyama actually developed these characters?”, you’re going to love this list.

Scroll down and comment which of these characters you’d like to see return in a new saga or spin-off.

#1: Arale – A Crossover Powerhouse Never Explained

Arale’s cameo was a comedic highlight, but her impossible strength raised worldbuilding questions DBZ never addressed. As a literal gag manga character, she broke the power scale effortlessly. A deeper crossover arc could have blended comedy and canon in clever ways. Instead, Arale remained a one-off anomaly.

Her presence highlighted how the Dragon Ball universe could expand into surreal territory—but the series never explored it again.
