#22: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Its disappointing 2002 sequel notwithstanding, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) is a Disney renaissance era film more deserving of attention. A Disney rendition of Victor Hugo’s heartbreaking novel, Quasimodo’s story isn’t quite as sad.

Although it’s far from a failure, it seems Hunchback isn’t as popular as its other 1990s-released films. A musical version of the Disney adaptation premiered in Germany in 1999 and opened with an unfulfilled hope for Broadway at Papermill Playhouse in 2015.
