Several Years Went Into Making This Scene from The Lion King
The stampede scene from the animated film The Lion King is what most people think of when they think of the film. A young Simba comes face to face with his now-trampled father in this moving scene. A two-and-a-half-minute-long scene was actually a labour of love that took nearly three years to create.
Traditional hand-drawn animation was combined with computer-generated effects to create the scene. As part of their research, they also travelled to Africa to study the herd behaviour of real wildebeests.
