When you are in the police force, it can be difficult to get the respect you want right away. We don’t mean from the public you are sworn to protect, but from your fellow officers as well. Usually, it takes a while for you to build up a good reputation and to be respected and acknowledged by your fellow officers. For police dogs on the force, the situation can be different for them as well. Everyone loves a dog that comes in and is ready to help out officers who want to enforce the law, but they need a good partner to do so. It’s a relationship that is not so easily formed and can not be done between any human and a dog. So when a dog and a human get together and make an amazing team, it’s something special that we all need to appreciate. It’s a bond that just can’t be broken easily.

Rick the dog
In a small animal shelter in southern California, there was a male dog named Rick. he had just been born not so long ago and was abandoned as a puppy. That’s exactly how he ended up in the shelter, all alone. Life wasn’t the greatest for Rick during these years, to say the least.

He had to fend for himself a lot of the time and although the people who worked at the shelter tried their best to feed him and play with him, it just wasn’t enough. After all, they needed to look out for hundreds of other dogs at the same time, so it was hard to give them each attention.
