#14: Fireflies Are Beetles
Fireflies, or lightning bugs, belong to the beetle family. Their ability to produce light through bioluminescence sets them apart from typical insects we think of as flies. The name describes their behavior rather than their biological group. In classification terms, they are far closer to ladybugs than houseflies.
