Meet the town
Mont Belvieu is a town of just about eight thousand people located in the western part of the state of Texas. Out of its population, roughly 75% are caucasian and the second largest group is African Americans at only 3%. This statistic already gives you a picture of how this place never had a problem with having to consider minority groups before.
With such a huge difference in the majority and minority groups within the little town, it’s no wonder why a lot of their rules were not considered diverse and were seen as outdated. It was just a matter of time before the town was outed as being too old-fashioned and confronted by a minority group member.
