Tower Bridge is celebrated for its twin Gothic-style towers, but earlier concepts explored much simpler monumental forms. One proposal envisioned replacing the ornate architectural details with a massive stone obelisk that would emphasize height and permanence over decoration. While impressive in scale, such a design would have lacked the visual warmth and storytelling that define the bridge today.
