His report cards didn’t exactly shout, “This kid’s gonna help change pop music forever.” He attended school in Liverpool, where he was a constant discipline problem and perpetually at odds with his teachers, and later enrolled in art college, but never finished his studies. By then, there was no doubt that music was the major preoccupation of his life, and the band was beginning to demand all of his time.
