#1: Swallowing Gum Means It Stays in Your Stomach for Seven Years
It sounds like a scientific fact, so youngsters totally believed the big kids who warned them about swallowing gum. Gum is sticky, they explained, so it sticks to the inside of your stomach where it is slowly – very slowly – dissolved by your stomach acids. Don’t accumulate too much gum in your belly, they added, or you won’t have any room for pizza.
