Andy Dwyer’s bumbling sincerity carried into every Mouse Rat song, whether it was the ridiculous “The Pit” or the strangely heartfelt “5,000 Candles in the Wind.” Fans begged for years for a real album, and in 2021 they got one. Suddenly, the world’s most mediocre fictional band was on Spotify, and it felt like Pawnee itself had become real.
