#17: Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love (2016)
The sequel returns to the young Parton family for another story shaped by hardship, Christmas, and mountain life. Dolly again serves as executive producer and appears onscreen as the “Painted Lady,” a glamorous figure who inspires young Dolly’s future look. That casting is wonderfully circular: present-day Dolly essentially portrays the kind of woman childhood Dolly dreamed of becoming. Few autobiographical movies allow their subject to walk directly into their own origin story wearing the finished costume.
