#6: Wild Texas Wind (1991)
Dolly took a darker dramatic turn in Wild Texas Wind, playing Thiola “Thi” Rayfield, a country singer caught in a destructive relationship while trying to build a music career. Gary Busey plays her volatile manager and boyfriend, while Ray Benson and Willie Nelson also appear. The television film lets Parton step away from broad comedy without abandoning music completely. It is hardly her breeziest screen outing, which makes it an interesting detour in her acting career.
