Basil
It is preferable not to store basil in the refrigerator unless absolutely necessary. The colour of basil soon fades to brown and wilts when kept in the refrigerator. Yuck. Parsley and cilantro, for example, can be kept fresh in the refrigerator, but basil is best kept at room temperature to preserve its flavour.
It’s easiest to just snip the basil stems and place them in a glass of water, similar to how you would with flowers, to keep it fresh for as long as possible. It will serve as a beautiful feature in your kitchen, adding a splash of colour and a touch of green to the room. A win-win situation is present in this situation.
