Nuts & Dried Fruits
Refrigeration is not suggested for storing nuts and dried fruits because of the risk of spoilage. The chilly temperature of the refrigerator can cause dried fruits to become too stiff and tasteless, as the nutty flavour is smothered by the low temperature. Nuts and dried fruits should be stored in an airtight container in the pantry, rather than the refrigerator, to preserve freshness.
The nuts will pick up the smells of everything in close vicinity if they are still in their shells while being cooked. As a result, keep them apart from one another. If you have a refrigerator full of almonds, roasting them in the oven is the ideal method for doing so.
