Winter Squashes (butternut, Winter, Etc. )
It is preferable for squashes to be stored in a cold, dry area rather than in a refrigerator. In order to maintain comfortable temperatures, humidity levels would be maintained between 50 and 60 percent of the total. Keeping them out of direct sunlight, such as in a pantry or cupboard, increases their shelf life
This will also allows them to remain fresher for extended periods of time. Squashes should be stored on a shelf or rack, rather than on the ground, to prevent rot. Keep children away from ripening fruits and vegetables in order to avoid exposure to ethylene gas, that may harm their health.
