Television drastically changed the American family, as evident in the invention of the TV dinner. These frozen, pre-portioned meals could be quickly heated on commercial breaks and eaten in the living room on those little folding TV trays that everyone had back then. No need to miss Walter Cronkite or the antics of Beaver Cleaver because it was time for dinner.
