#4: Ask Jeeves
Long before Google dominated, people politely asked Jeeves, a fictional butler, to search the web. The early search engine encouraged users to type full questions, though results were often hilariously off. Eventually rebranded as Ask.com, the butler retired, but nostalgia for his digital servitude lingers among ’90s internet veterans.
