#18: Millennium (1989)
Millennium centers on travelers from a dying future who remove passengers from airplanes moments before fatal crashes, replacing them with duplicates so history remains unchanged. An investigator gradually uncovers the operation and its dangerous temporal consequences. The concept is clever and constrained by late-1980s resources. A reboot could turn each doomed flight into suspense while developing the future society’s desperation. Time travel works best when every rescue creates another problem nobody can safely erase afterward.
