#20: Lifeforce (1985)
Lifeforce begins with astronauts discovering an enormous alien vessel near Halley’s Comet and ends with London consumed by energy-draining space vampires. Tobe Hooper combines Gothic horror, disaster cinema, science fiction, and unapologetic excess into something gloriously difficult to categorize. A reboot should not become respectable. Give it better effects, deeper mythology, and a stronger central character, but preserve the delirium. Any restrained adaptation would miss the entire point of resurrecting this magnificently unhinged film today.
