#3: Ghostwriter
Ghostwriter (1992) was about a group of four teenagers from New York City who helped solve local crimes with the help of a ghost who could only communicate through pre-existing text. They were not just out to solve the crimes; they were out to solve literacy. It was basically storytelling intertwined with learning, which might explain why some kids didn’t like the show too much.

Each episode depicted a certain mystery, with the everyday world actually laced with puzzles. Now that we think about it, the show may have been ahead of its time or too complicated for kids and adults to appreciate the genius of it, which may be why it often gets lost in nostalgic lists of 90s entertainment.
