When you make plans to head out into the local city, or travel far away to a city chances are that you want to know more about some of the free things to do in each of these cities.
Today we’re featuring a generic list of free things that you can do or experience in nearly every city in the world.

Tourist Office
Every major city will have a tourist office. These are some of the most popular places for tourists to visit. They’ll keep you up-to-date on all of the latest and greatest activities going on in the area, plus they’re free!
Community Center
Some cities will have a community center that offers a number of great activities, plus they’re free! These are usually available for residents and non-residents alike.
There are plenty of other places where you can get some really fun information about the city that you’re visiting, such as libraries.
Libraries in every city across all types of countries will have some great information that you can get for free about the city in which you’re staying. Not only will they have a ton of fun facts and statistics, but the library can also be a great place to chat with other people from around the world who are traveling too!
At most tourist centers they’ll have some good brochures or pamphlets that you can check out that will give you a deeper understanding of what you’re going to see around the area.
Sometimes museums will offer free entrance on certain days or for certain activities and events. This is usually stated clearly in their brochure or on their website, so be sure to plan accordingly before heading over there!

Bars & Restaurants
If you’ve never been to a certain city before then head over to a local bar or restaurant. Make sure that they’re open first, of course!
Ask the bartender what kind of drinks are preferred in the area and he should have plenty of great suggestions for you.
Restaurants can also be great ways to get to know the area that you’re staying. Some of the chefs in restaurants will tell you all kinds of great stories about the best places to go around town, and can often give you a little bit more insight into what it’s like to live in this place.
This is a great way to meet new people and can help you make some new friends that are just passing through. Who knows, maybe they’ll even give you some ideas of things that you should check out while in the area!
Local Shops
There are all kinds of shops in most cities where you can find good souvenirs that you can pick up. Not only are they great for traveling, but locals often enjoy these types of shops as well because they’re some of the few places where you can find truly unique items.
These kinds of shops will also be a great place to ask questions about what it’s like to live in this city if you don’t know anyone that you can ask.
They usually offer free samples of their products, so go ahead and try some chocolates or a bit of cheese. If you’re in Europe then this is usually the kind of thing that goes on all over the place!

Hotel Breakfast
If you feel like splurging then head to your favorite hotel for breakfast. They’ll have some great options that you can choose from, whether it’s a buffet or something off of the menu. The best part is that you don’t even have to leave your hotel room when doing this!
