The Wrong Receipt
When Whitney arrived at Abuelo’s, she immediately began speaking with the front desk. She requested a copy of the receipt to see whether there had been some sort of mistake. The front desk employee was more than happy to hand over the receipt from the night before, but as Whitney examined the slip of paper in her hands, she knew something was up.
The employee gave her the customer copy of the receipt, not the merchant copy. Whitney wanted to see what the company wrote down for its documentation purposes, not what the customer would’ve already seen. But as hard as the front desk employee tried, they couldn’t produce the missing merchant copy.
