What’s Up with Tipping?
In America, it’s customary to give the waiter or waitress a tip. We don’t like it any more than you guys, and we’d prefer restaurants include the cost of wages in the prices. That’s what it’s like in other countries, or so we’ve heard.
So, how much do you tip in America? There’s really no right or wrong answer from a moral perspective. Basically, any amount of money you give after settling the bill is a tip, even if it’s just one cent. But in general, if you had a great dining experience, anywhere between 15 and 20% would be “appropriate.”
