#12: GoldenEye 007 (1997)
Four friends, one television, four tiny screens, and at least one person insisting nobody could choose Oddjob. That is the memory GoldenEye 007 left in many homes. Developed by Rare and released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, the game adapted the James Bond film but became famous for much more than its license. The single-player missions gave console players objectives, stealth, gadgets, and recognizable Bond settings. The real household legend, though, was split-screen multiplayer.
