#14: You must dig a deep hole to plant a tree

Planting holes that are too deep can cause roots to settle below their ideal level. This often leads to poor oxygen availability and long-term stress. Trees do better when planted at the correct depth, with the root flare visible at the surface. A wide hole is more helpful than a deep one.
