Gardening advice that does more harm than good

While pine needles are slightly acidic when fresh, they have minimal impact on soil pH after they decompose. Using them as mulch does not significantly change soil chemistry. They break down much like other organic materials and contribute to soil structure. Concerns about acidifying soil are often overstated.
