Ukok Princess
Another name for the Maiden was the Ukok Princess, she was in her mid-twenties at the time of death and was missing eyes and a brain. We don’t actually mean she was born without those things, they were obviously removed before she was mummified. Instead of eyes, animal fur was stuffed in the eye sockets.
She was in a traditional headdress and costume, red and yellow colors with gold plated designs and wool cloth. She even had tattoos on her skin of animals and flowers. The Pazyryk people were from the sixth and third century B.C., so maybe that would make her one of the earliest women to get a tattoo.
