While they cited the second incident to support their ultimate decision, the school’s judgment was primarily influenced by the photo taken at Kayla’s birthday celebration. They believed the image portrayed the family’s “immoral lifestyle,” conflicting with the Christian values upheld by the school.
Whitefield Academy did not tolerate the Kenneys’ perceived “lifestyle violations.” Dr. Jacobson justified Kayla’s expulsion by asserting that the innocent birthday picture “represented a position on morality and social acceptance contrary to the principles of Whitefield Academy’s beliefs.”
