Discrimination Claimed for Hairstyle.
Despite the complaint regarding her hairstyle, the lawsuit asserted that the child had no further disciplinary issues after beginning therapy. According to Whitefield Academy’s parent/student handbook, high school students may face expulsion “where there is a substantial deviation from the school’s norms” concerning student behavior.
Furthermore, the handbook stipulated that “occasionally, the environment or behavior within a particular household may be contrary to or in contradiction with the biblical lifestyle the school advocates.” In such cases, the school reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deny admission to a student or to terminate a student’s enrollment.
