Being rational
At first, the security guard was ignored by Jess who just thought he was another stranger who was arguing with her. Jess eventually took her headphones off and looked up at the guard who began to talk to her. He tried to reason with her nicely and get her to move her bag, but she wouldn’t do it.
She argued that it was her personal belongings and that she had a right to place it there. She didn’t want to put it on the rack above her head because she was afraid it would be stolen. After all, in her mind, this was her prized possession and she didn’t want anything to happen to it.
