Relax (1983) became one of the most controversial British pop singles of the decade. Frankie Goes to Hollywood openly challenged conventions around s**uality through its lyrics, artwork and videos. The BBC banned the record, but the publicity helped drive enormous sales. It eventually became one of the group’s defining songs.
