Great movies the Legion of Decency tried to outlaw

The irony here is rich. The main character, a petty criminal played by Jean-Paul Belmondo, models himself on tough-guy movie characters like Humphrey Bogart. After he casually takes a cop’s life, he goes on the run with his American girlfriend, Patricia. For the Legion, this film proved their point. Here was a young man directly inspired by the movies to become a criminal. It was a perfect example of what they feared.
