Great movies the Legion of Decency tried to outlaw

A young novice about to take her vows is corrupted by the outside world, convincing her there’s no hope for goodness. Director Luis Buñuel showed immense compassion for the poor and marginalized. The problem for the Legion was a single scene. A group of beggars stages a coarse, mocking reenactment of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper. That moment of perceived sacrilege was enough to get the entire film condemned.
