#4: The Exorcist (1973)
Okay, so the possessed girl does some shocking things with a crucifix and says some truly foul stuff. But she’s possessed by a demon, what do you expect? The Legion objected to the vulgarity, but their real problem may have been theological. The devil’s taunts are creative and the old priest’s prayers seem useless against him. In the end, the film made the Church look a little weak, and that was unforgivable.
