#11: Emerging from the Storm Drain
There were no giant monsters or fancy effects here, just an unsettling prop placed in the street. A pale, featureless white mask was positioned to look like it was pushing its way out of a round sewer grate. The blank face stared up emptily at passing cars and pedestrians, emerging from the darkness below. It works because it leaves everything to the imagination. Is it a ghost? A creature from the depths? The lack of detail makes it creepier than any specific monster could be. In this case, placement is everything.
