Halloween Displays That Won the Neighborhood Over

Proving once again that less is more, this display created a feeling of dread with just two simple props. A single, bright red helium balloon was tethered so that it floated just inside a dark storm drain at the edge of the street. That’s all it took. For anyone familiar with Stephen King’s It, the meaning was instant and terrifying. The red balloon is the signature of the clown Pennywise, and it is a chillingly effective and brilliantly simple idea.
