#13: Tree of Heaven
Why it’s a problem: The Tree of Heaven is anything but divine. It spreads itself aggressively, releases allelopathic chemicals that inhibit the growth of other plants (how greedy), and attracts invasive pests like the spotted lanternfly.
Plant instead: Cladrastis kentukea (Yellowwood) or Gymnocladus dioicus (Kentucky Coffeetree).
