#16: Sunken City (California)
Some of the best land on the California coast simply strolled into the Pacific Ocean. In 1929, a huge landslide started inching a wealthy neighborhood in San Pedro toward the ocean. The ground moved as much as eleven inches a day, driving people out of their homes and causing some of them to be moved entirely.
