#18: The Bonneville Salt Flats (Utah)
A big old lake dried up and left a big white road where drivers love to go fast. Lake Bonneville covered most of Utah thousands of years ago. As the weather changed and the water went away, a thick, very flat layer of salt was left behind for miles. In the early 1900s, drivers found this smooth, empty land to be perfect for testing land speed records.
