Melvin Kaminsky started out writing jokes for television programs like Your Show of Shows in 1950. Mel Brooks jumped to the big screen by directing the 1967 comedy The Producers, which won him an Oscar for his screenplay. Mel Brooks kept audiences laughing throughout the 1970s with movie parodies like Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. He also belongs to the EGOT winners, a small group of entertainers who won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award during their careers.
