#10: Emmeline Pankhurst (1858-1928)
Emmeline Pankhurst was a political activist in Britain who became a leading figure in efforts to secure women’s voting rights. She founded the Women’s Social and Political Union in 1903, which organized protests that often brought her into conflict with authorities. She was arrested several times for her actions. In 1918, British law allowed some women to vote, and she died in 1928 shortly after seeing major progress in the campaign she supported.
