N.W.A’s former manager Jerry Heller did considerably more than complain about Straight Outta Compton: he filed a lawsuit challenging his portrayal. The movie presents Heller, played by Paul Giamatti, as an increasingly divisive figure whose business relationship with Eazy-E contributes to tensions within the group. Heller argued that the film falsely depicted him engaging in unethical conduct, exploiting artists, and contributing to N.W.A’s collapse.
