Toshiro Mifune became one of Japan’s greatest actors through classics like Seven Samurai (1954), directed by Akira Kurosawa. He made his Hollywood debut in Grand Prix (1966), bringing his commanding screen presence to an international cast. Even so, he remained far more active in Japanese productions.
