Look up in any ‘70s home and you will likely see popcorn ceilings. During the housing boom of the decade, new homes were built in record time, so contractors looked for ways to speed up the process. Popcorn ceilings were quick and easy to install, masked flaws and imperfections, and super trendy. Another key selling point … they were better sound insulators.
