Laura Ingalls Wilder’s journey to becoming a successful author was not straightforward.
The stock market crash in 1929 caused them to lose a significant chunk of their investments. Laura decided to give writing a shot to bring in some additional cash. To our good fortune, several publishers of children’s books headquartered in New York City expressed interest in Laura’s work. They believe that with some little adjustments, her novels could have a promising future in the realm of children’s literature and could even win awards.
With Rose’s assistance and Laura’s dogged determination, Laura was able to beat the odds and get her first book written for children published. It was an everyday occurrence for Rose and Laura to collaborate on writing projects together.
