The Background of Rose Wilder Lane
After graduating high school, Rose Wilder headed west to begin her professional writing career in San Francisco, California. In the 1930s, San Francisco was a cultural activity center (much like today). Many literary movements can trace their roots back to the thriving city of creativity and innovation.
Rose dabbled in socialism for a while, but after traveling throughout Europe and observing how the theory was put into practice, she concluded that libertarianism was a better fit for her.
