Ingalls Wilder was utterly oblivious to the challenges that lay ahead for her.
Rose Wilder Lane, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s daughter, did not become a mother. She did not have any children of her own. Her lawyer and the literary agent was, in reality, a teenager to who she had grown very close. This youngster’s name was Roger Lea MacBride, and their middle name was MacBride. Rose and Roger were so close that she left the entire Wilder estate to Roger after she passed away in 1968. This was because she had bequeathed it to him.
Roger is in charge of everything related to the Little House franchise, including the novels and the television show. In 1976, Roger ran for President on the Libertarian Party ticket as an independent candidate. During the general election, he earned less than 0.2% of the vote.
