The Morning of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Death”
Rocky Ridge Farm was where Laura and her husband Almanzo chose to spend their golden years together. The couple maintained a small number of farm animals, but their only income source was Laura’s book sales and their savings. The primary activity that pleased them was gardening.
There were readers of the books who would occasionally visit the farm in the hopes of finding Laura. The year 1949 was the year when Almanzo passed away. He was 92 years old at the time. After that, Laura lived on her own for the subsequent eight years, till the year 1957, when she passed away while she was sleeping quietly.
