There is no such thing as a day off for the Wilders.
In 1894, after yet another relocation, Laura, Almanzo, and Rose finally settled in Mansfield, Missouri. This was their final migration. They did several different things, one of which was buying a farm and starting an orchard there. They relied primarily on the sale of firewood to make a living.
While the couple’s apple trees were bearing fruit, Almanzo’s parents stepped in to provide some assistance to the happy couple. After enduring a lot of hardship and suffering, Laura and Almanzo were finally able to purchase a prosperous 200-acre farm. They marketed fruits, poultry, and dairy goods to the populace of the immediate area.
