#5: The Beach Boys – Pet Sounds (1966)
Nothing quite sounded like Pet Sounds in 1966. Considered a sonic masterpiece, this album introduced The Beach Boys’ signature lush harmonies and highly experimental production techniques (they were influenced by The Beatles, after all). Brian Wilson’s authentically emotional songwriting raised the bar for pop sophistication.
